As the school year starts up again and the kids are back in class five days a week, it’s harder to plan day trips, or fun outings. With activities, sports and clubs schedules can seem very hectic. However, it can still be hard to find something good to do on the days they’re off. To make things easier on you, we’ve put together a little guide for some fun things to do with the kids after school in South Orange County!
1. Vista Hermosa Sports Park
Do the kids have a little too much energy today? Take them over to the Vista Hermosa Sports Park in San Clemente to blow off some steam! This sports park is equipped with everything you could want and more! Not only do they have baseball/softball and soccer fields, but they also have picnic tables and BBQ pits for families that want to enjoy an evening cookout while their kids play. And for the extra hot days, Vista Hermosa has multiple swimming pools for kids to play or take lessons in.
2. Culinary Kids
Get your kids ahead of the curve by teaching them how to cook their own meals at Culinary Kids! This program, based in south Orange County, is designed to empower kids and teach them useful skills at a young age. During the Summer Culinary Kids offers Summer camps, then when school begins, Culinary Kids actually offers classes at different schools throughout the area. 3. Hangar 18
A fun workout for both you and your children, Hangar 18 is the new climbing spot in town! Located in San Clemente, Hangar 18 is an indoor rockwall gym that focuses on free climb without harnesses. Hangar 18 is targeted at an older crowd, but does have some options for the younger ones as well! Hangar 18 also offers yoga classes and the option to host group parties and events there.
4. Color Me Mine
Paint a plate, mug, figurine and more at Color Me Mine in Costa Mesa or Tustin! Kids love this place because they can come up with their own design and create a masterpiece! Just pick the colors you want and Color Me Mine will provide the necessary tools to help you paint. Once you are finished with your creation they will put it in the kiln to finish off the piece!
5. Discovery Science Center
Take the opportunity to have an educational afternoon at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana! They have all sorts of interactive exhibits and lessons for kids to take part in, and it is fun for everyone! Current exhibits include Mission Control, Inspector Training Course, Water Gallery, Healthy Kitchen and more! Tickets for an afternoon at the Discovery Cube are just $12.95 for children 3-14.
