Adventure City in Anaheim
While Disneyland and nearby Knott’s Berry Farm are well-known, Adventure City is a great theme park for kids that oftentimes flies under the radar. It is probably comparable to the size of Camp Snoopy or Toon Town Knott’s and Disneyland theme parks. Short lines are the norm and there are plenty of rides for the kids to go on. All in all, there are about ten to twelve rides like the carousel, Freeway Roller Coaster, train ride and a tower drop ride. There is also a petting zoo and rock climbing structure in the park. Other features of the park include free parking and an affordable admission price.
Laser Quest in Mission Viejo
What kid doesn’t love a game of laser tag? Although this is an activity that is probably a little more ideal for older kids, any child who is over five years old can play! Laser Quest in Mission Viejo has a pretty large maze area with a ground floor and second floor plus three towers you can snipe other players from above. This is also a good place to reserve for parties and other occasions. Laser Quest is able to accommodate parties of around thirty people.
Santa Ana Zoo in Santa Ana
While this zoo is not quite up to par with the San Diego Zoo, Los Angeles Zoo or the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, it provides reasonably priced admission, a train going throughout the zoo, a playground for kids and enough wildlife to satisfy your desire to see a few animals. It is also a lot closer than those alternative animal parks, if you are an Orange County resident. It is overall worth a few hours of entertainment. We are sure there is enough for the kids to appreciate here!
Adventure Playground at University Park in Irvine
This is one of Irvine’s most well-known parks and was built to embody all that childhood play could be and should be. The park encourages children to be creative and imaginative while promoting unstructured play. This is integral to a child’s development. Play opportunities are usually stifled by the equipment provided on the playground, but not here. Even though there is a conventional play structure, this park encourages kids to create their own worlds, bring their own props and get a little dirty. It is probably a good idea to dress your child in old shoes and clothes.
